Jon Kelby is a singer and songwriter living in western Massachusetts. He is currently finishing work on his 6th album, Yankee Gospel.
Written while living in Tupelo Mississippi, this record incorporates vestiges of folk, rock, bluegrass and more into into 10 interpersonal stories about living in modern America. This album was co produced with Nate Christy at Catskill Music and features a number of talented musicians from the Pioneer Valley.
Jon's varied musical styles incorporate Americana, bluegrass, folk, country, 70s disco and Chicago house music.
He has been playing music most of his life, starting on the violin at age 6. Since then, he has been writing songs and lyrics for piano, guitar and electronic instruments.
Jon's recording career began in 2004, with his first studio album “Stories from a Satellite” recorded and mixed with Shannon Fields in Brooklyn, NY.
This album was followed by the self released synth pop album “Elektronik” in 2015.
While living in Tupelo Mississippi, Jon worked with Cedric Williams at Quarter Past Blue Studios to release the acoustic/ bluegrass EP “Don’t Freak Out” in 2016, and an EDM album called “Modern Anxiety” in 2017.
In 2020, Jon self released the album “Sometimes Darkness” , which includes both electronic and acoustic songs, mastered by Andrew Odell at Ghost Hit Recording in West Springfield.
Jon has been featured on the Z98.5 Local Licks Radio show with Michaela Compton, and has performed in New York, Provincetown, MA and Tupelo Mississippi.
His music has been licensed for the independent films “Lyrically Speaking” and “The Suicide Auditions”.
